John Bernard Johnson

John Bernard Johnson was born in 1887 at Sutton on Trent and was the son of John Palmer Johnson a farmer and corn dealer and the late Fanny Johnson née Wood of North Road, Sutton on Trent. His father John Palmer was born in 1861 at Sutton on Trent and his mother Fanny Wood was born in 1863 at Tuxford, they were married in 1883, their marriage was recorded in the East Retford Registration district, they went on to have 8 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were , Gladys Elizabeth b1885 , Walter Howard b1885, John Bernard b1887 and Constance Hilda b1902, all were born at Sutton on Trent. In the 1911 census the family are living at North Road, Sutton Trent and are shown as John Palmer 50 yrs a widow and farmer and corn dealer, he is living with his children John Bernard 24 yrs a farm worker and Constance Hilda 9 yrs a scholar, also at the address are 2 female servants. John Bernard's probate was proven with a will on30th August 1922 in London and shows him as John Bernard Johnson of Weston Mill, Newark, Pte in London Regiment, died on or since 26th October 1917 in France, his effects of £152, 10 shillings were left to John Palmer Johnson, farmer.
