John Dexter and Jemima Dennett registered their marriage at Worksop in 1882. John was a coal miner and the couple moved around Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire until around 1894 when they settled in Clowne, Derbyshire, living at 24 Wombles Hill. They had the following 9 Children, William H born 1883 Cuckney, Frederick Isaac born 1884 Cuckney, Caroline born 1886 Creswell, Isaac born 1889 Langwith Derbys, May born 1894 Clowne , Lilian born 1895 Clowne, Emma born 1897 Clowne, Gladys born 1899 Clowne and George born 1901 in Clowne. In 1906, Frederick Isaac, the second born, married Florence Hall, the marriage being registered in Worksop but were still resident in Clowne when they had their first two children, Carolina Alvina in 1907 and Frederick Isaac in 1908. Around 1909, they moved to Worksop, living at 38 Norfolk Street when another two children were born, Leslie in 1910 and Jemima Dexter in 1914.
There are only sparse military records for Frederick Isaac Dexter. He may have been in the Leicestershire or Warwickshire Regiment, (or possibly both) but most likely the latter. He enlisted on 3 September 1914 and went to France on the 4 May 1915 where he was badly wounded, sufficiently to cause him to be discharged on the 8 June 1917. As he had served overseas, he was awarded the mandatory Silver War Badge no. 192040, being recorded as Pte Fred Dexter 2204, of the Royal Warwickshire Regt. His campaign medals consisted of the British and Victory medals and the 1915 Star. He died, most likely of his wounds, Sept 1919, registered at Worksop.
