Family History

George Frederick Williamson lived at 80 High Street, Arnold he was born in Arnold in 1899 the son of Samuel a boot and shoe dealer and Emma Williamson née Simpson His father Samuel was born in 1856 at Arnold, his mother Emma Simpson was born in 1856 also in Arnold, they were married on 6th May 1876 at St Mary's Church, Arnold, they went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Arnold, John Thomas b1876, Mary Elizabeth b1877, Eveline b1881, Samuel Walter b1884, Granville Henry b1886, Laurence William b1888, Elsie b1890, Claude Edward b1893, Clarence Ernest b1893, Bert Francis b1895, Beatrice Maud b1897 and George Frederick b1899. In the 1911 Census the family are living on High Street, Arnold opposite the 'Flying Horse' public house, they are shown as Samuel 55 yrs a boot and shoe dealer, he is living with his wife Emma 55 yrs and their children, Bertie 15 yrs a mine labourer above ground, Beatrice Maud 13 yrs a scholar and George 12 yrs a scholar. he has 2 siblings.

Military History

Private George Frederick Williamson enlisted into the army in 1917 but was found to be medically unfit to be sent abroad and was therefore sent to work at Aldershot. He died at Connaught Aldershot Hospital on 12th November 1918 as the result of influenza and pneumonia. He is buried in Redhill Cemetery
