Family History

Charles Henry Wilson was born in 1892 at South Collingham and was the son of Henry an estate gardener and Sarah Elizabeth Wilson née Wilson of Clumber Gates Carburton Nottinghamshire. His father Henry was born in 1862 at Carlton in Linderick, his mother Sarah Elizabeth Wilson was born in 1864 at South Collingham, they were married on 30th March 1891 at St John's Church, South Collingham, they went on to have 5 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Charles Henry b1892 South Collingham, Alice Elizabeth b1898 Carburton and Florence May b1901 Carburton. In the 1911 census the family are living at Clumber Park Lodge, Carburton, Ollerton, they were shown as Henry 48 yrs an estate gardener, he is living with his wife Sarah Elizabeth 47 yrs and their children, Charles Henry 18 yrs an estate gardeners labourer, Alice Elizabeth 13 yrs a scholar and Florence May 10 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Charles Henry Wilson enlisted at Retford whilst residing at Ollerton, he served with the 2/6th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 21st March 1915 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
