Employment, Education or Hobbies On leaving the army he joined the Midland Railway Police at Nottingham as a police constable on 22 November 1911 (collar Number 251). In 1912 he moved to work at Toton Sidings.

He was born in August 1880.

Military History

Served in the Connaught Rangers 3rd Bn. His military service predates the war. He joined the Royal Marine Light Infantry, reaching the rank of corporal then in 1902 transferred to the 1st Connaught Rangers, leaving the army in 1911. He was mobilised on 5 August 1914 and rejoined the Connaught Rangers in the 3rd Bn, being promoted to sergeant. He received a head wound while serving at Ypres and was transferred to Cork Hospital but died of his wounds. He was buried in Cork Military cemetery but is commemorated on Grangegorman (Cork) Memorial Headstones as CWGC was unable to maintain the graves in Cork and the headstones were removed to form part of a memorial at Grangegorman Cemetery.
