Family History

Harry Robinson was born in 1892 at Eastwood and was the son of William a fish dealer and his second wife Sarah Jane Robinson née Clarke of 53 Doncaster Road Goldthorpe Rotherham Yorkshire. His father William was born in 1857 at Market Deeping, he was first married to Mary Elizabeth Ball born 1859 Attercliffe Sheffield and died in 1884 aged 25 yrs, they were married in 1877 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had the following children, John William b1878,Rebecca b1880 and Hannah b1882. Following the death of his first wife Mary his father re married Sarah Jane Clarke born 1869 Altoffs, Yorkshire, they were married on 11th September 1886 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had the following children, Eliza b1887, Arthur b1888, William b1890, Harry b1892, Charles Edward b1894, Thomas Ashley b1896 and Albert b1910 all were born in Eastwood. In the 1911 census the family are living at 53 Doncaster Road, Goldthorpe and are shown as William 64 yrs a fish dealer, he is living with his wife Sarah Jane 42 yrs and their children, Harry 19 yrs a coal miner, Thomas Ashley 14 yrs a grocers clerk and Albert 1 year of age.

Military History

Private Harry Robinson enlisted at Scarborough whilst residing at Goldthorpe, he served with the 5th battalion Yorkshire Regiment. He died of wounds on 29th April 1915 and is buried at Vlamertinghe New Military cemetery, Belgium.
