Ernest William Parkinson was baptised on 2nd October 1881 at Nassinton, Northamptonshire, he was the son of the late William a labourer and his second wife Sarah Ann Graham of Northamptonshire, His father William was born in 1823 at King’s Cliffe, Northamptonshire, he died in 1889 at Oundle he was 66 yrs old, his mother Sarah Ann Graham was born in 1853 at Abingdon, Berkshire, they were married in 1875 at Oundle, they went on to have 7 children. His fathers first wife was Olive Crowson she was born in 1831 at Nassington, she died in 1874 at Oundle aged 43 yrs they were married on 8th July 1850 at Nassington, they had 7 children. . Ernest William married Clara Elizabeth Barnett (born 3rd July 1886) on 10th September 1912 at Christ Church, Streatham Hill, Lambeth, London, they lived at 60 Kenwood Road, Edmonton and had a daughter Esther Alice Graham born 9th January 1914. Commencing 26th August 1915 his widow was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 7 pence a week.
Sergeant Ernest William Parkinson enlisted at Bedford, whilst residing at Nottingham he served with the 1st battalion Bedfordshire Regiment he was killed in action on 15th November 1914, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate memorial, Belgium.
