Family History

Ivor Henson was born in 1891 at Keyworth, and was the son of the late William Henson an agricultural labourer and Ann Henson née Eggleston of Keyworth. His father William was born in 1837 at Bradmore and his mother Ann Eggleston was born in 1848 at Keyworth they were married in 1865 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham Registration district, they went on to have the following children all born in Keyworth, Elizabeth b1867, Sarah b1872, Mary 1875, Edith 1877, Gertrude b1880, Ada b1882, Horace b1885 and Ivor b1891. His father William died in 1902 aged 62 yrs and his mother went on to re married in 1901 to John Towle. Ivor married Mary Ann Crampton (born 14th January 1888 ) in 1910 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham Registration area, they went on to have the following children, Ethel Ada born 1910, Blanche Annie born 30th April 1911, Leslie William born 2nd November 1913 and Gladys Mary born 12th March 1916 they lived at Gilby Lane, Keyworth. In the 1911 census Ivor is living at Blind Lane, Keyworth he is shown as a boarder 20 yrs a carter, he is boarding with his wife Mary Ann 23 yrs and their daughter Ethel Ada 5 months they are boarding with his step father John Towel, 63 yrs a frame work knitter and his mother Ann Towle 63 yrs. Following his death his widow Mary Ann was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 3 pence a week which commenced on 17th September 1917.

Military History

Private Ivor Henson enlisted at West Bridgford and served with the 6th battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he died on 9th March 1917 of pneumonia at the 43rd Casualty Clearing Station and is buried at Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery Saulty
