He was the husband of Amy Ellen (née Scotney) Hodson (married Kingston on Thames Congregational Church 15/4/1900) and the father of Edward Isaac (born 14/11/1900), Amy May (born 10/5/1903), Donald Frederick (born 30/6/1906) and Douglas Henry (born 7/3/1915) Hodson. In 1915 they lived at 68 Lamcote Street Meadows Nottingham. Amy Hodson and her children later lived at 191 Arkwright Street Meadows Nottingham.
Private Isaac Thompson Hodson attested on 25th October 1915 standing 5' 6" and weighing 139lbs, he gave his age as 41yrs and his address as 68 Lamcote Street, Meadows, Nottingham, his next of kin was his wife Amy Ellen of the same address he gave his occupation as that of an engine driver. He was posted to the Army Service Corps and joined them at Osterley Park on 30th October 1915. He embarked from Southampton on 13th January 1916 arriving the following day at Le Harve and was posted to the Army Service Corps base at Rouen . He was admitted to hospital on 6th January 1918 suffering from Bronchitis and discharged on 25th March 1918. He was declared unfit for overseas service 8/9/1918 (asthma and bronchitis) . He died in Limerick Military Hospital from bronchitis and influenza on 3rd April 1919 and was buried in Limerick (King's Island) Military Cemetery
6/10/1919 Amy Hodson was awarded a weekly pension of 26s 8d for herself + 17s 6d for her three dependent children (total 44s 2d)
