Arthur Laxton was born in 1890 at Sneinton and was the son of James a super porter with the Great Northern Railway and Ann Laxton née Seaton of 3 Pennyfoot Street, Nottingham. His father James was born in 1859 in Nottingham and his mother Ann Seaton was born in 1858 also in Nottingham, they were married in 1881 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, all of whom were born in Sneinton, they went on to have the following children, Frank b1883, Arthur b1890, Ernest b1891 and Ada Laxton.b1910. In 1911 census the family were living at 3 Pennyfoot Street Nottingham and were shown as James 52 yrs a super porter G.N.R he is living with their children , Arthur 21 yrs a brass bobbin maker, Ernest 15 yrs a haridressers assistant, Ada 10 yrs a scholar, also living with them is his married son Frank Laxton 28 yrs a brass bobbin winder and his family Lily 26 yrs a housefire (daughter in Law) and William 4 yrs (grandson) and Arthur 7 months (grandson) Arthur married his wife Kate Spencer (b 1889 Nottingham) in 1911 at Nottingham and they went on to have the following children, Lilly b1911, Eric b1914 and Betsy b1916, all were born in Nottingham
Private Arthur Laxton enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1/4th battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He died of wounds on 22nd August 1918 and is buried at Pernes British Cemetery, France, grave reference ,IV.B.7
