1901:Father, Henry G age 42. Born Island of Ascension. Occupation Frame Work Knitter. Mother, Rose age 40. Born Middle Rasen, Lincolnshire. Siblings, Edward age 14. Occupation Grocer Shop Boy,John H. age 12, Florence age 11, Elizabeth age 9,Kathleen age 7, May age 2, Roy age 10 weeks. With the exception of Kathleen who was born in London and May who was born in Butlers Hill, Hucknall all children born in Nottingham.Charles also a Grocer Shop Boy. Address, 20 Melton Terrace, London Road. 1911:Charles with regiment at Woolwich, enlisted age 18. Rose now widowed. Edward a Tram Conductor. Florence and Kathleen Shorthand Typists . May and Roy still with family.Rosa age 7. Address, 7 Waterway Terrace, Meadows. Henry died Oct-Dec 1906
Colour Sergeant Major Charles William Donnelly, served with the 2nd Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, he was killed in action on 9th May 1915. He is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial.
Death notification published 15th June 1915 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “DONNELLY. – Killed in action on May 9th, C. W. Donnelly, C.S.M., 2nd K.R.R., the second beloved son of K. A. and the late H. G. Donnelly, 62, Lamcote-street, Nottingham.
