He was the husband of Nellie Cooper and the father of Ronald Barratt (b.1899) and Nellie (b.1905) Cooper. In 1911, they lived at 16, Bathley Street, Meadows, Norttingham.
John Cooper served with 'C' Company. He was killed by German artillery fire on 13th December 1915. Menin Road South Military Cemetery, Grave Reference: II K 18
