Family History

William Carlin was born in 1883 he was the son of John a coal miner and Lydia Carlin née Holmes and the brother of John, Enoch, Emma, Lydia, Alice, Maud Mary and Lucy Adelaide Carlin of 16 Grosvenor Road, Eastwood. John was born in 1845 he died in 1911 aged 66 yrs, Lydia Holmes was also born in 1845 both were born in Langley Mill. they were married in 1864 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 8 children. In 1911 the family are living at 6 Scargill Street Eastwood. John 66 yrs is a coal miner he is living with his wife Lydia 66 yrs and two of their children Enoch 39 yrs a bricklayer and Lucy 24 yrs.

Military History

Private William Carlin enlisted at Nottingham in 1916 and was killed by shell fire on 3rd June 1917. He is buried at Bailleul Road East Cemetery St Laurent Blangy Grave Reference: V B 12
