Family History

Harry Buxton was born in 1894 at Eastwood, he was the son of the late John a blacksmith and Emma Buxton née Enzor John was born in 1849 at Ingleby, Derbyshire, he died in 1902 he was 53 yrs old, Emma Enzor was born in 1851 at Ticknall, Derbyshire, they were married on 2nd February 1868 at Birchwood Chapel, Alfreton, they went on to have 8 children. In 1911 Harry is living with his married brother at 22 Main Road, New Eastwood, Harry is 22 yrs and is a coal miner, his brother Levi is 28 yrs and a coal miner, living with his wife Lizzie also at the address is his brother Horace 22 yrs also a coal miner.

Military History

Private Harry Buxton enlisted at Ilkeston, he served with the 1st battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 19th October 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Extra Information

Harry Buxton served with three neighbours - Oliver Starbuck, Charles Cooper and Wilfred Moult. All four were killed.
