Albert Henry Gascoyne

CWGC: Gascoigne Albert Henry Gascoyne was born in 1891 in Eastwood and was the son of the late Edward, a colliery clerk, and Sarah Ann Gascoyne née Abbott of Walkers Row, Eastwood. His father Edward was born in Brinsley in 1842 and his mother Sarah Ann Abbott was born in 1848 in Watnall. They were married in 1874; the marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district. They went on to have the following children, all of whom were born at Eastwood: Amy b1876, Susannah b1878, Thomas Edward b1880, George Ernest b1883, William Alfred b1885 and Albert Henry b1891. His father Edward died in 1908 aged 66 yrs; his death was recorded in the Basford registration district. In the 1911 census his mother is living at 99 Nottingham Road, Eastwood, with her married son George Ernest and his wife Amelia and are shown as George Ernest 28 yrs a dairyman, who is living with his wife Amelia 26 yrs (bn 1885 Ilkeston) and his mother Sarah Ann Gascoyne 64 yrs a widow. Albert Henry married his wife Beatrice Hunt (born 5th December 1889) in Doncaster in 1914 the lived at the Crofts, Bentley, Doncaster. Commencing 27th March 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 10 shillings and 6 pence a week.
