Family History

Thomas Madden was born in 1883 he the son of John a farmer and Mary Madden née Walsh of Cloofad Ballahaunis Co. Mayo Ireland, John was born in 1841 and Mary Walsh was born in 1843 both were born at Roscommon, they were married on 14th November 1875 in Ireland, they went on to have 5 children. Thomas married Mary Maglone (born 23rd May 1881 ) in 1912 their mariage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at 63 Princesws Street, Eastwood. Commencing 21st April 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shilings and 9 pence a week.

Military History

Private Thomas Madden enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Eastwood. He served with 1st battalion Irish Guards landing in France on 14th October 1915 He was killed in action on 27th September 1918 and he is buried at Sanders Keep Military Cemetery, Graincourt-Les-Havrincourt .
