Family History

Frederick Michael Newton Pacey was born in 1891 at Gloucester, he was baptised on 1st December 1893 at St Ann's Church, Gloucester he was the son of Ernest Peacey a hammer man and the late Florence Peacey née Rees. Ernest was born in 1868 at Gloucester, Florence Rees was born in 1869 also at Gloucester they were married on 19th April 1888 at St James Church Gloucester, they had 10 children sadly 2 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 his parents and siblings are living at 43 Alma Place, Bristol Road, Gloucester, Ernest is 43 yrs and a hammer man at a carriage works he is living with his wife Florence 43 yrs and eight of their children. Frederick Newton moved to Nottinghamshire where he worked as a coal miner. Frederick married Eliza Riley (born 24th October 1889) on 30th May 1914 at St Mary's Church, Eastwood, they lived at 3 Ratcliffe Street Eastwood Nottinghamshire, they had a son Frederick Thomas born 20th September 1914. Commencing 2th April 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military History

Gunner Frederick Peacey enlisted at Nottingham and served with 155th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery. He was killed in action on 29th April 1918 and is buried at Klein-Vierstraat British Cemetery, Belgium.

His brother and an uncle had already been killed before his own death from shell fire (see letter).
