Sandall Webster was born in 1896 in Nottingham and was the son of Robert a railway goods porter and Millicent Webster née Merryman of 8 Wilford Terrace, Meadows, Nottingham. His father Robert was born in 1861 in Stilton, Huntingdon and his mother Millicent Merryman was born in 1865 in Morton, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1889 in Nottingham and went on to have 6 children, sadly one was to die in infancy the surviving children all born in Nottingham were and Ethel b1890, Edith b1891, Elizabeth b1892, Sandall b1896 and Albert b1897. His mother Millicent died in 1909 in Nottingham she was 42 yrs of age. In 1911 census the family were living at 8 Wilford Terrace Meadows Nottingham and were shown as Robert 50 yrs a widower and railway goods porter , he is living with his children , Ethel 20 yrs a blouse finisher, Edith 20 yrs a house keeper, Elizabeth 19 yrs a lace finisher, Sandall 15 yrs a lift attendant and Albert 14 yrs an errand lad.
Private Sandall Webster, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2/4th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He landed in France on 22nd July 1915 and was killed in action on 27th March 1918. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial (Addenda Panel).
