Inscription on headstone, Northern Cemetery, Bulwell, Nottingham: 'In loving memory of Mary Whale who died Feby. 16th 1925 aged 70 years. Life’s work well done, life’s race well run, now comes peace. Also the above named Daniel Whale who died May 27th 1931 aged 79 years. Asleep through Jesus peaceful rest. Also Frederick Whale MM beloved son of the above killed in action March 25th (sic) 1918 aged 31 years. Loved by all. Also Mary daughter of the above died 14th Dec, 1949 aged 58 years. At rest. Also Lucy daughter of the above died Jany. 12th 1965 aged 83 years. Called to higher service. Also Walter son of the above died April 11th 1978 aged 85 years. He gave a life of service.'
