Family History

George Abdy was born in 1895 at Radford the son of John a whitesmith and Elizabeth Abdy née Brown of 2, Goodall Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham. John was born in 1855 at Bawtry, Elizabeth Brown in 1862 at Blyth. Married in 1880 in the Sheffield Registration District, they went on to have 9 children, five surviving infancy - Anne b.1885, Lily b.1888, Florence b.1890, John b.1892 and George b.1895. In 1911, the family lived at 73, Salisbury Street, Radford. George was a tobacco hand.

Military History

George Abdy enlisted at Nottingham and died in the Richmond Hospital, Dublin. He was buried in the Nottingham General Cemetery
