Family History

James was born in 1894 in Keyworth and was the son of John a frame work knitter and Elizabeth Tyler née Disney of Nottingham Road Keyworth. His father John was born in 1848 in Keyworth, his mother Elizabeth Disney was born in 1856 in Sutton Bonnington, they were married in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham Registration District, they went on to have 9 children , two of whom sadly died in infancy or early childhood prior to 1911. their children listed on the 1901/1911 census were all born in Keyworth and were John b1887, George b1889, Henry b1891, Arthur Dring b1893, James b1894, Emily Jane b1894 Alice Ann b1898 and Simeon b1900. In the 1911 census the family are living at Ling Lane Keyworth and are shown as John 63 yrs a frame work knitter, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 55 yrs and their children, John 24 yrs a printer, Henry a farm servant, Emily Jane 15 yrs a servant and Alice Ann 13 yrs , also living with them is a grandson John William 7 yrs.

Military History

Private James Tyler, enlisted in Nottingham and served with “D” Company, 7th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He landed in France on 14th July 1915 . He was killed in action on 22nd April 1916. and he is buried in Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery grave reference 9.G.44
