Employment, Education or Hobbies He was educated at Worksop College (St Cuthberts college) 1900-1907. On leaving St Cuthbert's he was articled to Mr John Marriott (Messrs Acton & Marriott Nottingham) passing his law examination with honours (being one of three honours out of 670) and was awarded the Nottingham Incorporated Law Society's prize. Whilst on active service Jackson was appointed Clerk to the Governors of the Ilkeston County Secondary School. He was connected with St.Mary's Church and the Church Institute. He was secretary of the Church Council and a sidesman of the church and was a member of the Institute Council. He was also a Freemason.
Family History

He was the eldest son of Agnes Jackson and the late CJ Jackson an Ilkeston solicitor. In 1911 Jackson was living with his mother at 32 Park Avenue Ilkeston.

Military History

He enlisted on 26th February 1915 as an ordinary seaman with the Public Schools Battalion of the RNR. Commissioned Temporary Sub Lieutenant RNVR 31/5/15, Acting Lieutenant 7/6/17 (Temporary Lieutenant dated 21/4/17) he was drafted for the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force 1st August 1915 and joined Howe Battalion. Between 20/8/15-17/9/16 he suffered from influenza, and was invalided to UK 29th September 1916 : Draft for BEF (Musketry Instructor) 29/5/17, joined Howe Bn. 6/6/17-26/10/17 DD. Saw service in Gallipoli. He was transferred to France and promoted lieutenant. During the 3rd Battle of Ypres Jackson discarded the helmet which was interfering with his compass and was shot in the head by a sniper.
