Family History

Colin was born in 1894 the son of Dr Gerald Leith a phyisian and surgeon and Susan Lillian Godwin of 'Dilkoosha' Clowne Chesterfield. Gerald and Susan had 4 children, Colin Harold, Claudine Joyner, Ernie and Gerald Noel. By the 1901 census the family was living at Rectory Road, Clowne and by 1911 census they were at North Road Clowne. However Colin had left home and was a boarder at Crosby School boarding House Milton Road Oundle Northamptonshire.

Military History

He was gazetted 1st August 1915 temporary second lieutenant in the 12th battalion York and Lancaster Regiment. He was killed in action on the first day of the battle of the Somme 1st July 1916. Thiepval memorial
