Family History

Peter Yaros was born around 1877. He married Catherine Pike at Nottingham in 1908 and they had four children – Peter b.1909, William b.1911, Eve (1912-1912) and Catherine b.1914. They lived at 19 Matlock Street, Skynner Street, Peachy Street in 1911 and later at 4 Shakespeare Villas, Shakespeare Street (both Nottingham). Commencing 29th July 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 29 shillings and 7 pence a week. His widow re married in 1919 at Nottingham to Horace Young.

Military History

Private Peter Yaros served with the 38th (Jewish) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, He died at Salisbury Road Military Hospital Plymouth of double pneumonia and is buried in Nottingham General Cemetery: 4372.
