Family History

Frederick Augustus Kendrick was born in 1892 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late John Kendrick a whitesmith and Agnes Kendrick née Swindell of Trinity Street, Nottingham. His father John was born in 1845 at James Bridge, Staffordshire, he died in 1910 at Nottingham aged 66 yrs, his mother Agnes Swindell was born in 1847 at Birmingham, she died in 1907 at Nottingham, aged 60 yrs, they were married on 24th November 1878 at St John’s Church, Staffordshire, they had 3 further children, Henrietta born 1880 Birmingham, William Henry born 1881 Nottingham and John Arthur born 1883 Nottingham. In the 1901 census the family were living at the Dog & Gun, Trinity Street, Nottingham. In the 1911 census Frederick Augustus Kendrick is in the Army, he is living in barracks at London, he is 21 yrs of age and a lance corporal with the Grenadier Guards.

Military History

Company Sergeant Major enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 3rd battalion Grenadier Guards, he was with his battalion in the 1911 census he landed in France on 26th July 1915, he was killed in action on 9th August 1915, his name is commemorated on the Loss Memorial, Dud Corner.
