Archibald Bernard Hopkins was born in 1889 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late William Hopkins a porter and Harriett Hopkins née Lancaster of 37 Union Road, Nottingham. William was born in 1858 at Upper Broughton, he died in 1912 aged 54 yrs Harriett Lancaster was born in 1853 at Bradmore, they were married in 1886 at Nottingham, they had a further son George William born 1888 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census Archibald is living with his aunt Elizabeth Lancaster 70 yrs and his mother Harriett Hopkins 56 yrs he is shown as being 21 yrs also at the address is his brother George 22 yrs. Archibald married Mary Ann Wales (born 21st January 1893 on 19th June 1915 at St Matthias Church, Sneinton, they lived at 164 Godron Road, Nottingham, they had a daughter Phyllis Mary Ann born 18th March 1916. Commencing 24th June 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.
