Isaac was born in 1889 in Radford and was the son of Isaac (senior) a monumental stone mason and Sarah Fisher née Tomlinson. His father Isaac was born in 1862 in Nottingham and his mother Sarah Tomlinson was born in 1866 in Heanor, Derbyshire, they were married in 1883, their marriage was record in the Nottingham Registration District, they had a total of 10 children, however sadly 1 died in infancy , their children were all born in Radford and were:- Ethel b1887, Isaac b1889, James b1892, Florence b1894, Sarah b1897, Jess b1899, Dorothy Nora b1901, Daisy b1905 and Mabel b1909. In the 1911 census the family are living at 56 Cromwell Road, Nottingham , Isaac Fisher is 49 yrs head of the family and a monumental mason , he is living with his wife Sarah 45 yrs and their children, Ethel 24 yrs a cardboard box maker, Isaac 22 yrs a monumental mason, James 19 yrs a monumental mason, Florence 17 yrs a cardboard box maker, Sarah 14 yrs a cardboard box worker, Jess 12 years a scholar, Dorothy 10 yrs a scholar, Daisy 6 years, Mabel 2 years. At the time of Isaac's death the family are living at 48 Cromwell, Street, Nottingham.
Sapper Isaac Fisher, enlisted in Nottingham on 25th January 1916, he gave his age as 27 yrs, his address as 56 Cromwell Street, his occupation as a marble mason letter cutter, his next of kin was his father Isaac of the same address. He stated he had previously military service, serving 2 years with the South Nottinghamshire Hussars, having left after two years service in 1912, the following day he was placed into the Reserves. He was mobilised on 2nd February 1916 and served with the Royal Engineers on the home front until 24th July 1916 when he landed in France and joined the British Expeditionary Force and served with the 219th Field Company Royal Engineers. On 16th April 1917 he was returned to England. On 27th April 1917 he was notified by a medical board that he was no longer physically fit for war service. He was discharged from the Army on 18th May 1917 and awarded a silver war badge number 215357. He died on 14th November 1918.
Death notice published 15th November 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “FISHER. – On November 14th inst., at the Isolation Hospital, Isaac, dearly-loved eldest son of Isaac and Sarah Fisher, 48 Cromwell-street (late Royal Engineers 1916-1917). Sweet rest at last. Internment General Cemetery (top chapel), Tuesday, 19th, 2.30.” Obituary published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 14th November 1919:- “FISHER (48 Cromwell-street). – In ever-loving memory of Isaac Fisher, late Royal Engineers, who died November 14th, 1918.
