Family History

Frederick was the son of Frederick Herbert Davies of 74 Bower Road Sheffield later of 3 Cobbett Road Bitterne Park Southampton and Catherine Amelia. Frederick (senior) was a travelling salesman in coal. He was the brother of Gertrude Davies. Frederick Anscombe was baptised at Crookes Yorkshire on 26th March 1893. In 1901 the family was living at 74 Bower Road, Nether Hallam Sheffield.

Military History

Frederick served with the 12th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment having been gazetted 15th December 1914 as a temporary second lieutenant from 12th December 1914. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Pas de Calais France.
