Family History

Francis was the son of Lovel a farmer and Emma Danby, of Brompton-by-Sawdon, Yorks. He was the brother of Richard Lovel, John, Christopher Lovel, Marjorie Caroline, Henry Maxwell and Sophia May Danby all of whom were born in Hutton Buscel. In 1911 they lived at Swan Hill Wykham Yorkshire along with nine servants working on Lovel’s farm or in the house.

Military History

Francis enlisted as a private into the Yorkshire Hussars (2906). He was gazetted 29th December 1915 second lieutenant from the 19th December 1915. He was killed in action on 28th December 1917 and is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, grave reference I F 1
