Employment, Education or Hobbies He attended St Cuthbert's College Worksop and Clare College Cambridge in 1898. He became a solicitor who was admitted to the Bar in October 1906 and practised at Knaresborough and York.
Family History

Christened at York on 3rd June 1880, Alwyne was the son of Robert Percy and Jane Horsley Dale and the brother of Helen Mildred Dale. Robert had been a solicitor and town clerk in York. In 1901 the family was living at Ashbank York but Alwyne was serving in South Africa. By 1911 Alwyne was living with his widowed mother and sister at 10 The Avenue Clifton York.

Military History

Alwyne Dale had served during the South African War. He was mobilised in August 1914, as Captain 5th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (T) and subsequently promoted Major.
