Joseph Raybould was born in 1895 at Silverdale, Staffordshire and was the son of Benjamin an ironworker and Elizabeth Raybould née Wrench of 10 Stone Row Jacksdale, His father Benjamin was born in 1860 in Staffordshire and his mother Elizabeth Wrench was born in 1859 at Silverdale they were married on 5th September 1886 at St Marys Church, Knutton, Staffordshire, they had the following children, John William b1887, George b1892, Joseph b1895, Ethel b1898 and Albert Raybould b1901 all were born in Silverdale, Staffordshire. In the 1911 census the family are living at 10 Stone Row Jacksdale Nottinghamshire and are shown as Benjamin 51 yrs an iron worker he is living with his wife Elizabeth 52 yrs and their children John William 24 yrs a coal miner, George 19 yrs a coal miner, Joe 16 yrs a coal miner, Ethel 13 yrs a scholar and Albert 10 yrs a scholar. .
Private Joseph Raybould enlisted at Ripley whilst residing at Alfreton, he served with the 5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he landed in France on 25th February 1915 and was killed in action on the 31st January 1917 he is buried in Foncquevillers Military Cemetery 3.C.1
