Family History

In 1901 Leonard is living with his parents Frederick William & Harriet Albon at No 7 Traffic Terrace, Victoria Road, Netherfield. His father works in the nearby railway yards as a Foreman engine shunter. By 1911 the family had moved to 5 Midland Grove, Chandos Street, Netherfield and his grandfather James Albon was also living with them. He was one of 5 children, one of whom had already died by 1901, and was born c1896 at Netherfield.

Military History

Private Leonard James Albon, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2/5th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, formerly 2/8th Battalion, was killed in action on 21st March 1918. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Eligible for the British & Victory medals.
