In France from 18/08/1915.
His older brother, William enlisted on 15/04/1915 and his service number was 306144 so presumably they enlisted together. He was 20 years of age, and had been in France nearly two years. “Deceased brother, Private William Houfton, was wounded some time ago in the leg, and is now at the Northern Command Depot, Ripon, having been six months in hospital in Birmingham.” Above article is courtesy of Jim Grundy and his facebook pages Small Town Great War Hucknall 1914-1918
