he was the husband of Mary Gilbert, (born 13th December 1893) of 12 Commercial Street, Mansfield, they had a son Thomas Arthur born 11th September 1916. Following his death his widow Mary was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence which commence on 2nd June 1919.

Military History

7th Bn. Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment). Formerly TR/68532 (Private) 12th Traiining Reserve. Private Thomas Gilbert enlisted at Mansfield. Thomas was killed in action on 28th September 1918. He has no known known grave and his name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France (Panel 3).
