Family History

Sidney Beighton was born in 1899 he was the son of the late John Henry Beighton a blacksmith and Jane Beighton née Hingley of 4 Red Lion Court, Ratcliffe Gate, Mansfield. John Henry was born in 1862 he died in 1911 aged 49 yrs, Jane Hingley was born in 1861 both were born in Mansfield they were married in 1880 at Mansfield and went on to have 6 children. In 1911 the family were living at 4 Red Lion Court, Ratcliffe Gate, Mansfield, John Henry 49 yrs and is a coal miner, he is living with his wife Jane 50 yrs and their six children including Sidney 12 yrs a scholar Sidney's pension record card shows his next of kin as his mother Jane and also shows the guardian of his illegitimate child (child's name not mention) as Miss Alice Harrison of 27 Duke Street, Mansfield.

Military History

Private Sidney Beighton enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Mansfield, he initially served with the service number 105789 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He died of Peritonitus on 2nd December 1918 and is buried in St Sever Cemetery extension, Rouen, France.
