Family History

Jessie Salvin was born in 1898 the son of Phillip a coalman and Emily Ann Salvin née Pearce of 15 Bailey Street, Netherfield. Phillip was born in 1862 at Hitchin, Hertfordshire, Emily Ann Pearce was born in 1864 at Stoke Bardolph, married in 1883 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 7 children, William, David, Ralph Susan, Arthur, and Cecil. In 1911 the family lived at 15 Bailey Street Netherfield Nottingham.

Military History

Private Jesse Salvin enlisted at Hucknall whilst residing at Netherfield, he was killed in action on 4th October 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

Extra Information

His brother Private Ralph Salvin enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Netherfield, he landed in France on 27th April 1915 and was killed in action on 30th June 1915. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin gate memorial.
