Frank Wright Pidcock was born in 1894 at East Leake and was the son of the late Alfred Wright Pidcock a baker and grocer andMary Ann Pidcock née Stafford of the Green East Leake. His father Alfred Wright was born in 1866 at East Leak, he died in 1900 he was 34 yrs of age, his mother Mary Ann Stafford was born in 1870 also at East Leake, they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Loughborough registration district, they had 5 children, sadly one of which died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children, all born in Eat Leake were Mary Ella b1892, Frank Wright b1894, Percy b1898 and Harold Sidney Pidcock b1902. In the 1911 census the family were living at The Green East Leake and were shown as Mary Ann Pidcock 41 yrs a widow and grocer, she is living with her children, Mary Ella 19 yrs a school teacher, Frank Wright 17 yrs a grocers assistant, Percy 13 yrs a scholar and Harold Sidney 9 yrs of age.
Private Frank Wright Pidcock attested on 9th December 1915 at West Bridgford under Lord Derby's Scheme standing 5' 2" and weighing 126lbs he gave his age as 21 yrs and 11 months, his address as Main Street, East Leake, his next of kin was his mother Mary Ann of the same address he gave his occupation as that of a provisions merchant assistant. Posted to the reserves he was mobilised on 2nd February 1916. He reported to the Derby depot on 3rd February being posted to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He served in Britain until 26th February 1917 when he embarked at Folkstone for Boulogne. He was killed in action on 4th April 1917 and he is buried in Vadencourt British Cemetery Maissemy Grave Reference: IV B 11
In memoriam published 4th April 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “PIDCOCK. - In loving memory of Frank, the dearly loved son of M. A. Pidcock, East Leake, killed in France April 4th, 1917.
