Thomas Aubrey Goodman was born in 1890 his birth was recorded in the Lutterworth Registration District, he was the son of the late William Powell Goodman and Myra Jane Goodman née Earp of Brookside, East Leake. His father Wiliiam Powell Goodman was born in 1852 at Gilmorton, Leicestershire and died in 1897 at Barrowby on Soar aged 45 yrs and his mother Myra Jane Earp was born in 1862 at Sandiacre, they were married in 1879 their marriage was recorded in the Lutterworth Registration District, they went on to have the following children all born in the Lutterworth Registration district, Frank Edward 1888, John William b1880, Thomas Aubrey b1890 and Arthur Henry b1893. In the 1911 census his mother was living at Normanton Road, East Leake she is shown as being 49 yrs a and a widow, In the same 1911 census we find Thomas Aubrey Goodman as a visitor at an address on Main Street, East Leake, he is shown as being 20 yrs single, a grocers assistant, he is visiting Clifton Savage 38 yrs a wicker basket maker and his family.
Private Thomas Aubrey Goodman attested at Nottingham on 8th November 1915, he gave his age as 25 yrs and 11 months, his address as Brookside East Leake, his next of kin as his mother Myra Jane Goodman of the same address, he gave his occupation as that of an insurance agent. He was posted to the reserves and was mobilised for war on 22nd February 1916 and reported to his local depot at Derby on 23rd February, he was posted n 29th February to the Sherwood Foresters Regiement. He landed in France on 12th November 1916 and on 2nd December 1916 was posted to the North Staffordshire Regiment. He returned to England on 9th March 1917 where he served until he was discharged from the Army on 2nd February 1918 under King's Regulations 392 no longer fit for active service. He died on 10th July 1918 and is buried in East Leake Churchyard.
