Cecil was born in 1883 in Brixton, Middlesex and was the son of the late Alfred Ernest a clergyman at Humbleton Yorkshire for over 30 years and Alice Maud Robinson.By the 1911 census he is a boarder, living on his own at an address of Springhead House, Easingwold, Yorkshire he is single 26 years of age and is working as a bank clerk. His two elder sisters , Catherine Maria and Maud Emily are living together at East Bridgford on the same census. When he enlisted his next of kin was stated as his mother Mrs A Robinson who was living at 2 Mansion Road, Sefton Park, Liverpool His probate was proven in London on 8th December 1916 and it shows him as Cecil Beaumont Robinson of Easingwold, Yorkshire, Lieutenant 13th Reserve battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment who died on 14th September 1916 in France whilst on active service. His effects of £603, 1 shilling and 9 pence were left to sister Catherine Maria Robinson , spinster. On 1st November 1920 his elder sister Catherine Maria , applied for his medals.

Military History

Cecil enlisted into the army shortly after the outbreak of war , and in a supplement to the gazette published on the 7th January 1915 his promotion to Temporary Lieutenant was dated from 30th November 1914. He served with the 13th battalion , West Yorkshire Regiment and first saw service in a theatre of war in Gallipoli on 4th October 1915. He was killed in action whilst attached to the 9th battalion West Yorkshire Regiment on the Western Front on 14th September 1916. His body was never recovered or identified and his name is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial on the Somme.
