Family History

Harold Brelsford was born in 1890 at Farnsfield and was the son of Alfred a stockman on a farm and the late Margaret Elizabeth Brelsford née Marriott . His father Alfred Brelsford was born in 1855 at Newark, his mother Margaret Elizabeth Marriott was born in 1858 at Normanton, she died in 1905 aged 47 yrs, they were married in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield Registration district. They went on to have the following children James b1885 at Blidworth, Alfred b1887 Farnsfield, Harold b1890 Farnsfield, Doris b1894 Blidworth, Perry b1897 Blidworth and Patience Maggie b1900 Blidworth. In the 1911 census Harold is a boarder, he is living at Clifton Nook, Blidworth , he is shown as being single 22 yrs of age, a coal moiner, he is liivng with George Goodall 70 yrs a retired farmer. Harold married his wife Ivy Maud Butler in 1911 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield Registration district, they went on to have the following children, Jessie Margaret b1912 and Grace b1917 both were born at Blidworth, his wife Ivy died on 8th July 1917 Harold's pension card shows his guardian as Mary Ann Butler of Ashwell Terrace, Blidworth

Military History

Private Harold Brelsford served with the 3rd battalion King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment, he was discharged from the Army on 21st January 1919 and died of disease on 25th October 1919.
