Edward Amos Gunby

Edward Amos Gunby was born at Leicester in 1899 was the son of William Amos a coal miner and Maria Gunby née Jackson of Main Street, Blidworth. His father William Amos was born in 1873 at Sheffield and his mother Maria Jackson was born in 1875 at Bramore, Nottinghamshire, they were married in 1897 their marriage was recorded in the Leicestershire Registration district, they went on to have 10 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood, their children were, Elsie b1897 Edward Amos b1899, George b1901, all were born in Leicester, they went on to have the folloiwng children at Kirkby in Ashfield, Gladys b1903, Agnes b1904, Ezra Alfred b1905, Maria Lilly b1910 and Clarence William b1911. In the 1911 census the family are living at 20 Byron Street, Kirkby in Ashfield and are shown as William Amos 38 yrs a coal miner, he is living with his wife Maria 36 yrs and their children Elsie 14 yrs no occupation listed, Edward Amos 12 yrs a scholar, George 10 yrs a scholar, Agnes 7 yrs a scholar, Ezra Alfred 6 yrs, Maria Lilly 1 year and Clarence William 1 month old. Edward Amos married his wife Ada Annie Frankish on 8th August 1918 at the Parish Church at Ripley, they lived at 1 Slack Lane, Ripley, Derbyshire.
