George William Dove

George William Dove was born in 1892 at Skegby and was the son of Daniel a cowman on a farm and Mary Dove née Clark of Barton in Fabis, Nottinghamshire. His father Daniel was born in 1859 at Sutton in Ashfield and his mother Mary Clark was born in 1860 at Bledington, Gloucestershire, they were married in 1885 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield Registration district, they went on to have the following children, Thomas Nason b1886 Stanton Hill, Catherine Mary b1888 Chesterfield, German b1897 Bolsover, Charles b1899 Kirkby and Ernest Edgar b1903 Blidworth. In the 1911 census his parents are living at Barton in Fabis and are shown as Daniel Dove 51 yrs a cowman on a farm, he is living with his wife Mary 50 yrs and their children, Charles Henry 11 yrs a scholar, Ernest Edgar 8 yrs a scholar, also living with them is Minnie Pike 11 yrs an adopted daughter. In the same 1911 census George is living with his married brother Thomas and his family at Blidworth Bottoms, they are shown as Thomas Dove 25 yrs a coal miner head of the family he is living with his wife Frances Mary 27 yrs and their children Kenneth 6 yrs and Thomas 3 yrs , George William is shown as 19 yrs of age and is a coal miner. George William married his wife Lucy Jane Noble (born 7th October 1892 at Hawton) in 1912 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at Chapel Yard, Blidworth and had the following children George Reginald born 28th October 1912 and Charles Robert born 19th January 1914. Following his death his widow Lucy was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence which commenced on 5th May 1918.
