William Henry Askew

William was born in Daybrook in 1885, the son of Matthew a labourer and Ann Askew nee Archer. His father Matthew was born in 1851 in Arnold and his mother Ann was born in 1858 in Kinoulton, Notts, they were married in 1875 in Nottingham they went on to have six children, who were: - Emma Archer b1876, Kate Elizabeth b1881, William Henry b1885, George b1887 and John b1890 all the children were born in Arnold In 1892 his father Matthew dies aged only 41 yrs , his mother left a widow to bring up 5 children soon marries a Walter Clark in 1893 in Arnold , he is a gardener, they go on to have a further 5 children Charles Clark b1894, Ernest Clark 1897, Harry Clark b1898, Harold Clark b1901 and Arthur Clark b1903 all these children are born at Daybrook. In the 1901 census the family are living on Morris Street, Daybrook and are shown as:- Walter Clark 52 yrs a gardener , he is living with his wife Ann Clark 43 yrs and their children , George Askew , stepson 17 yrs , John Askew stepson 11 yrs, Charles Clark 7 yrs , Ernest Clark 5 yrs, Harry Clark 3 yrs and Harold Clark 11 months.
