Family History

Henry was born in 1898 at Flintham and was the son of John Henry a butcher and Annie Maria, his father had been born in Flintham whilst his mother had been born at Coddington they had 8 children in total sadly 1 had died in infancy they were: - Francis Agnes (b 1892), Lilian (b 1895),,Kathleen Emily (b 1896), John Cyril (b 1897), Henry Percy (b 1898), and Norah (b 1899), John Cyril (b 1897), and Wilfred (b 1909) all of whom were born in Flintham. In the 1901 census the family are living at Mill Street, Flintham, John Henry is a butcher and is living his wife and 4 children, Francis Agnes, Kathleen Emily, Henry Percy, Norah , By the 1911 census the family are still living in Flintham John Henry is still a butcher however 2 more children have been born into the family :- John Cyril (b 1907) and Wilfred (b 1909)

Military History

Henry enlisted in Newark stating he had been born in Flintham. He initially served with service number 61064 with the King's Own Scottish Borderers however he later transferred to the 3rd Company , Machine Gun Corps. He died of wounds on 6th October 1918 at 32nd Casualty Clearing Station at Wimbareau and is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille grave reference IV F 10
