Francis Hugh Leslie Bowett ' known as Leslie ' was born in 1896 at Emneth, Norfolk and was the son of Hugh Bowett a farmer and Kate Bowett née Flowers. His father Hugh was born in 1865 in Wisbeach Fen, Cambridgeshire and his mother Kate Flowers was born in 1869 in Middlesex, they were married in 1892 in Wisbeach In the 1911 census Francis is shown as being a boarder, 15 yrs single and is boarding at 4 Marine Parade North, Great Yarmouth with Tobias Norris 46 yrs a private school master and his family and other pupils/boarders of the school.

Military History

Corporal Francis Hugh Leslie Bowett enlisted at Westminster, Middlesex whilst residing at Lowestoft and served with the London AT signal compony, Royal Enginners. He died of meningitis on 14th April 1917 at the War Hospital at Norwich. He is buried in Bunny St Mary's Churchyard near the east entrance
