Family History

Reginald Pasco was born in 1890 at Rotherham and was the son of Henry a stone mason and the late Ellen ( Nellie) Pascoe née Knowles of 24 Eastwood Lane, Rotherham. His father Henry was born in 1842 at Helston, Cornwall, his mother Ellen Knowles was born in 1858 at Rotherham, she died in 1904 aged 46 yrs they were married in 1877 at Rotherham and went on to have the following children, Evelyn b1888, Reginald b1890, Daisy b1890 and Lily b1896 all were born in Rotherham. In the 1911 census his family are living at 24 Eastwood Lane, Rotherham and are shown as Henry 68 yrs a stone mason and widow, he is living with his daughters Evelyn 30 yrs working at home and Lily 15 yrs a dress makers apprentice. In the 1911 census Reginald has left the family home, he is living at 42 Fairfield Road, Buxton, he is shown as being 20 yrs of age , single and a pawn brokers assistant, he is living with John William Witham 33 yrs a joiner and his family. Reginald married his wife Maud Rachel Pike in 1914 their marriage was recorded in the Chapel Le Frith registration district, Derbyshire, they went on to have a son Harry born 18th July 1914. His widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week which commenced on 24th June 1918 His widow later remarried to become Maud Rachel Day and lived at 6A Church Street, Cromer Norfolk

Military History

Private Reginald Pascoe enlisted at Buxton whilst residing at Buxton, he served with the Sherwood Rangers, he was killed in action on 28th November 1917 in Palestine and is buried at Jurusalem War Cemetery, Israel
