Family History

Horace William Nickson (a tailor by trade) married Florence Annie Hill in 1888 in the Birmingham area. They bore five surviving children, Horace Clarence 1889, Stewart 1892, Cecil Raymond 1894, Olive 1895 and Phyllis 1897. By 1892 the family were living in Acocks Green, Worces in the town of Yardley. Cecil Raymond Nickson was born there but in both the 1901 and 1911 census he is living with his maternal grandparents, George (a Methodist Minister) and Annie Hill.

Military History

Cecil joined the Notts Sherwood Yeomanry and later became attached to the 20th Hussars. He served on the Western Front and died on the 8th or 9th November 1918, just prior to the armistice and is buried in the Meubeuge-Centre Cemetery, France.
