Edward Wilson was born in 1886 in Nottingham and married his wife Florence Kate Ellingworth at Nottingham in 1909 they went on to have a son Edward born in 1910, and a daughter Bertha born 1912 both were born in Nottingham In the 1911 census the family are living at 150 Alfred Street South, Nottingham, Edward is 25 yrs and a sawyer for a picture framer , he is living with his wife Florence Kate 22yrs a box maker and their son Edward 1 year of age, also living at the address is Louisa Glover 63 yrs a widow a lace hand and is listed as Grandmother.
Rifleman Edward Wilson, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 11th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He landed in France on 22nd July 1915 and he was killed in action on 23rd August 1916. He is buried in Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz.
Death notifications published on 6th September 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “WILSON. – Killed in action, August 23rd, 1916, Riflmn. E. Wilson, aged 30. Absent from the body, at home with the Lord. – From his sorrowing wife and children. “WILSON. – Killed in action, August 23rd, Riflmn. E. (Ted) Wilson, K.R.R. They miss him most who loved him best.
