Herbert Savage was born in 1900 he was the son of Samuel a lace finisher and Margaret Savage née Noon and the brother of Samuel, Florrie, Charles, Ernest, John, James, Joe and Margaret Savage of 13 Bellar Gate, Nottingham, Samuel was born in 1863 and Margaret Noon was born in 1874 both were born in Nottingham, they were married in 1895 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have 10 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. 1911 the family lived at 5, Cambridge Yard, Cambridge Street, Radford, Nottingham. Samuel 48 yrs is a lace finisher, he is living with his wife Margaret 37 yrs and their children.

Military History

Private Herbert Savage enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Machine Gun Corps and was killed in action on 21st March 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Bay 10
