Family History

Father: Walter Wright, born in 1861 at Bingham, Nottinghashire and working as a brick setter. Mother: Eliza A., born in 1859 at Bamford, Nottingham and working as a shop keeper. Brother: Walter, born in 1887 at Nottingham and working as a Leivers lace hand. Sisters: Fanny Thurman, born in 1880 in Nottingham and working as a hosiery machinist and Edith, born in 1891 at Nottingham. The family lived at 49 Oldham Street, Nottingham before moving to 145 Waterway Street, Nottingham.

Military History

Dvr. Wright volunteered for service and following training he was drafted to France. 'Y' Battery took part in the final push which forced continued retreat on the German field army. He was killed in action on 08/10/1918 and was buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gouy.

Harry Wright, R.H.A., killed in action October 8th, 1918, after 3 years and 4 months in France, aged 24. We that loved him sadly miss him as it dawns another year, in our lonely hours of thinking thoughts of him are always near. — Mam and dad and fiancée Flo. “WRIGHT. — In proud and undying memory of our beloved brother, Dvr. Harry Wright, R.H.A., killed October 8th, 1918, aged 24. These were His servants, in His steps they trod, following through death the martyred son of God; victor He rose, victorious too shall rise they who have drunk His cup of sacrifice. — Will and Julie. “WRIGHT. — In loving memory of our dear brother, Dvr.
